This has been a bad day so far and its on 1pm. I just rear ended a ford Aerostar minivan with my beamer. Thankfully was only going 10 or so and it didnt really damage my car besides on thing.

Now the transmission shifter has dropped down and is hitting the driveline or guidbo unless I hold it up. I dont have my manual with me right now, so how does the shifter mount? Car drives just fine otherwise.

hopefully you won't have to remove the exhaust and drive axle to repair this... maybe you can get at it from the top, (but i doubt it)

The shifter lever sits in a level mount (bar) connected to the body and the top of the transmission. Where it is connected to the body is where it may have rusted through. You can just pull up the leather shifter boot, then pull up/out the rubber seal to the underneath. I doubt you will see much but maybe, just maybe, you or someone else can fit a tiny hand down there to feel whats going on.

I bet this really doesn't help much but good luck. I can explain better maybe if you have questions....

Thanks Equate. Really appreciate that website, going to book mark it.

Its the number "1" piece that goes into the number "4" peice. When I hit that minivan it must have flexed the motor mounts and tranny mounts forward and popped the little tail end of the "1" out of its little holder "4". Going to take a look at it today and hopefully fix it. Nothing broke.

Thank goodness for the diving board bumpers.

Aaron
