In my '85 BMW the transmission is basically bone stock so when I go to shift it seems alot harder than it should be. It sort of feels like the gears arent quite catching right so it takes me about a minutes to roll into first gear and get out of an intersection. Does anyone know how that can be adjusted? to where the gears are alot more responsive?? Thanks for the feedback

ehh, that is not good, it could be as simple as changing your tranny fluid to as much as rebuilding or replacing the tranny. I would start by changing the fluid, see if that helps any.

so, for an overall better effect you would recommend just puting in another tranny?? Cuz right now it just seems really hard to shift. Throughout all the gears besides 5th. It feels like its slipping into gear but its just really hard.

*thats what she said btw*

BUT SERIOUSLY. Would tranny fluid help out alot?

It might help a lot, it might not help any at all, I am not an auto tranny expert. It is worth a try though, less than 10$ for a bottle of tranny fluid and more than 500$(just a guess i have no idea) for a new tranny install

Don't forget when changing your transmition fluid, to also drain the torque converter (taking off the outlet tranny cooler hose on the rediator).
When some one says "full tranny rebuild" does that mean to just replace the clutch packs, or does it mean the entire valve body aswell. if its slipping sounds as though you just need a "minor" rebuild, meaning it only needs to have the clutch packs replaced.

Thats my thoughts anyways.

Try a fluid and filter replacement and see how you go, but my experience with these boxes is that generally this means the end of the road although not always. Time for a manual conversion???
