Hey everyone! I'm new to the scene. I recently purchased a bimmer and am trying to decide on insurance coverage. Full coverage vs liability. I checked the nada value and I can't imagine the car being worth that much so Im wondering how accurate it is. Could someone tell me what I can realisticly think my car is worth? It is a 1990 automatic 325i red 2 door sedan with 63,000 actual miles. It has power windows and a manual sunroof. It has been well cared for and it was originally from Florida just brought to Ohio, so no rust.

Should be worth between $3300 to $5200 depending on condition. Always buy full coverage unless you can afford to total the car and walk away from it. I would think insurance for this car would be real reasonable. What deductibles are you looking at?

PS welcome to the board!

i'd say dan is about right. maybe the upper end of that scale since it has low milage.

I'd also suggest full coverage. If an uninsured driver hits your car... well your out of luck. Happened to me twice. 2 totalled cars and zero dollars for me. I thought the chances of it happening twice were way too low so i still didn't get full coverage. obviously i was wrong....

I had full coverage on my e30, and still have it on my e30 albeit a lower deductable to keep the cost down. I think it's worth it, I don't look at expenses associated with a car with the value of the car in consideration. If you have a $500 honda civic that is in good shape and will last you and make you happy for years on end, then I say spend the money to keep it in good shape. Same goes for insurance, especially on these cars.

Insurance companies sure do like you screw you over with BMW's though - if I had a 97-99 540i 6 speed, my insurance would be marginally higher than it is now for my '89 535i. Real shitty but oh well.
