Does anyone know if on the 2000 528i the trunk should pop open when opening it? When the trunk button is pressed, it unlocks but does not open. I have to physically lift the trunk open.

Ok so maybe of the 15 people who have looked at this post they dont have a 2000 528i but how about the 5 series in general. Does the trunk open completely when trunk button is pressed? Whereas with mine, the trunk only unlatches but does not open till I physically lift it open.

ThankS!

Don't tell me you are talking crap about BMW just because the trunk lid does not open all the way!!!?!???! Its not a feature on your car, deal with it, if you wanted it to pop open, get a new car. BMWs are purpose build and believe me, good cup holders and pop open trunk lids are not on top of the to do list.

I don't think I necessarily agree with you. I think it all contributes to the whole car experience. Perhaps I wasn't fair as besides those few things the car is a dream and as with all cars there are things that could be better. For example, head lights that automatically turn on.

Todd, the newer bimmers have that option. it comes w/ rain sensor. BMW is slower to gadgets w/ technological innovation, esp compared to japanese cars, but w/ added electronics, comes more problems.. i don't mind turning on my own lights. but despite that "shortcoming" they sure drive well. i think i'll choose better driving experience over cool gadgets, in a car anyway.

at least he's not complaining about the new 5er running out of battery if he leaves the key in ignition overnight and happens to open any other door besides the drivers.. apparently laughing at idiots is also not PC anymore..

You got that right.

I know somebody who left his key in the ignition of a ML430, the car went wild on him, had to get it towed to the dealership and had a whole list of problems to be fixed.
