Does anyone have any experience with both? I like the idea of a cordless Solo 2, but not sure how well it will perform. Anyone? Thanks! [???1]

I have the Valentine One and love it. I have not used it in years though, however I do remember on a trip to Boulder NV one time it was right on accurate and quick to detect.

Two things I don't like about the Solo 2:
1.) You are doomed to replacing batteries all the time.
2.) With all battery-powered items, as the battery power gets very low, performance suffers. Escort claims the Solo 2 does not experience this "performance loss" but I don't know how much I believe them.

Personally, I have an Escort Passport 8500 X50 (used to have the regular 8500) and as much as I love it, I think my next radar detector purchase will be a Valentine One. I prefer everything about the 8500 X50 over the V1 but I feel like the V1's directional arrows and bogey counter are two priceless features. I am tired of looking all over the place like an idiot every time my radar goes off, and it's not uncommon (in my area) for me to be driving and go by a cop doing radar and less than a minute later, go by ANOTHER cop doing radar. The 8500 X50 does track several signals at one time but since the unit does not let YOU know how many signals it is detecting, it is hard to know when it is finally "safe".

cordless is cool, but the perf will def suffer, esp w/ low batteries. just like Emile mentioned. (once you have your detector hard wired, it won't matter too much anyway. (now only if V1 would have wireless consealed display. now that would be cool)

i have the V1, and only real gripe w/ the detector is how sensitive the damn thing is. esp when driving by a crowded mall area w/ bunch o automatic doors, the bogie counter hits 9 and doesn't let up.. now i have to upgrade it for the pop protection. woner how much it'll cost...

I've got the 8500 X50, and if you switch to "expertmeter", it will track up to 8 different threat, tellling you wich band they are on, and each ones signal strength. It takes some getting used to , but once you've gotten used to it, it works great.
And I find that in auto, the "False Alarm Filter" works very well!!

Valintine One is the best detector on the market. I have used the expensive K40 Jammer/Radar dectector and found that the V-1 works better for half or a third of the cost.

That is because the K40 Undetectable detector SUCKS. It was an over-hyped, over-priced (beyond belief) product that was, in reality, absolutely terrible. But if you wanted a concealed radar detector, back in the day that was your only option.
