I use plastic razor blades to get it out of the nooks and crannies. As for the black matt plastic, I have heard of everything from peanut butter to armor all. Personally, I find an pencil eraser and a little 303 Aerospace protectant works well, (eraser first then apply a little 303).

ya thats a ****ing brilliant idea change my trim every time i wax the car.

dumass

did u not understand the question ?

hahahah!

i would just ignor that type of replies.

anyways, like i've mentioned above, the tire shine stuff works really good. i'm pretty sure they are plastic safe, since they can be applied to the rubber.

or you can use the armor all stuff, but i rather stay away from it though, it's just personal preference that i don't like armor all products...

uhhhh.....all bad ideas. hot water is your solution. also, dont wax the plastic trim. also, dont buff the plastic trim. DO NOT buff the wax/polish/compound into plastic, as it is not a smooth painted surface. if you do, you will soon realize that those products will fade the plastic. your real solution is to mask off the plastic while you buff and wax, then take you tire shine, or interior vinyl treatment, and apply it to the plastic trim. leaves it nice and glossy for a day, but it will fade into normal looking conditions and still protect it. DO NOT get the vinyl treatment on the paint though, it doesnt come off easily.

What I have used for years (with no adverse affects whatsoever... 5 years +) is glass cleaner. This works because of the ammonia in the solution. Ammonia is widely used as a wax stripper for flooring etc because it doesn't harm the surface underneath... it just lifts the wax.

yeah i've used glass cleaner too, but the amonia isnt very strong in glass claener. you'll end up going over a section several times, and even then its hard to tell if all the wax came off, because its wet. it works though, i still use it for little jobs.

Just had a thought... maybe "Sudsy Ammonia" (brand name) would do the trick better. I believe it is a soap/ammonia combo that is probably much stronger than glass cleaner. Maybe worth a shot!

Lots of good products for this...,

Forever Black
Black Again
Bumper Nu
Back to Black

Just remember, they will disolve and remove the wax, so if you get it on the paint, re-wax.

The best plan of attack is to use a protectant that you can apply right over the trim such as Zaino. It will not stain plus it will protect the trim and add's a UV protective film.
