Okay the first thing that I have to tell everyone is that pictures cannot explain how amazing this car really looks. I thought it looked a bit shitty but when you see it in real life, this thing is really really REALLY nice. Although some of the pictures may suggest that the quality is below BMW standard, it isn't. I looked at every single little thing and let me tell you that its the highest quality it can get, even the cupholders (amazingly). The car has many technological thingies and I'm guessing maintenance must be a bitch, but overall it seems like a great car. I sat in it and it's as comfortable as it can get. If I had to rate this car from 1 - 10, 1 being dog shit, and 10 being the E39 5 Series, I would give it a 9.5. I felt kind of embarrased when I first walked in because the people were dressed like idiots with ties and all these pointless things and I was just wearing jeans and a long-sleeved shirt. It's kind of pathetic though because it isn't really that much of a deal, and what's even more pathetic is that I made them look like even bigger morons by actually knowing how the car works. Anyways, the point is the car is great, I'd like to own one, and it's expensive. Next week I may go test drive one, I'll tell you all how it feels.

I saw this car in real life and I was more dissatisfied after I looked at it in person/sat in it than I was from the pictures.

The car' back looks something that Mazda would come out with. It looks over-sized and the pace is unprotortioanlly covered with platic. The front is little bit better but still did not impress me.

When standing side by side next to the new 7,... I must say that the new 5's front is much better,.. but the back of 7 is much better. Even though I hate the 7 all around.

When they turned on the new 5,... it already had problems. One of the headlights wouldn't work... that doesn't speak to good of the 5.

They had all those german-accented people talking about the beautiful car.. but the interior is the most boring thing I have seen in a long time. I wouldn't drive any car with that 7-style interior over-worked with wood and un-needed "luxuries".

People saw that the new power steering on the 5 destroys the ride and BMW feel. It dissataches a person form the road by putting a computer that adjust's steering wheel sensitivity everytime you turn the wheel... now how the hell are you supposed to know how sensitive your turn is going to be if it always changes?

Final Thoughts: Car looks completely plastic and I have lost all respect for the 5. Interior is only good for elderly and luxuries of the car are over-rated. Design had lost its touch and as one of the multi-millionare German guys I know says... "they have entered a loophole they will never be able to get out from". He thinks of buying a 3-series and keeping it.

I went to that thing with Pavel, I also though the back looked ungly and plastic, and I wheels looked cheap, and that the back of the 7 is much better and not plasitc looking. I did like the front however, I also liked the little wing-like things on the headlights. I think the interior was pretty ugly too. I do think though they will be able to get out of this loop hole like Lenard said and start making decent cars again after they see how many people don't like the new ones.

My dealer had 2 on the lot when I stopped in Friday. I have to admit that *TO ME* it looks much better in person than all the photos I have seen. I think it will grow on me, but the biggest part that bugs me are the headlights. It just makes me think "Pontiac" for some reason.

No. That what I thought. How long has it been since the new 7 came out? 2 years? I still hate it and its design. However, I must start liking it since everything now is coming out uglier and uglier... its all a game of comparison. If everything gets that bad... than help me god.

If the new 3-series gives the same impression, I would have to leave BMW for Porsche.

I think the 7 series is really sharp. Someone at work that parks near me has a black one that is sweet. If I could afford it, I would drive one in a second even though I prefer coupes. Given that most people who buy 7's like conservative styling, I can understand the uproar, but I like it. Now for the 5, I didn't like it at first, but it has already grown on me, and I haven't even seen it in person yet.

You have to give BMW some credit for taking some chances. If they don't, their cars will look a little old. Nothing wrong with driving a classic car, but not one that's right off the showroom.
