Can i get on the lathe at work and cut and drill my own spacers for my wheels, or is this job for a professional? what does the spacer look like in general? is it just a huge washer to suit hub size with holes drilled for the wheel studs.
cheers for any help in advance :)

Well, it should be the same size as the face of the brake disc (just the hub part obviously), with the center cut out for wheel hub. Yeah, four holes for the bolts... I don't know if you should do it on a lathe... there might be balancing issues... and depending on how thick you need/want them, you might lose your hub ring that the rims rest on. Unless you make that part of the spacer. Thick aftermarket spacers (by H&R) have the hub-centric ring included in the machining process. Depends on how good you are with the machining process. Keep in mind that you might need a longer wheel bolt... or go with a stud kit.

Ah I see,
Im only after quite thin spacers for the front wheels (2-3mm thick) as the offset on my wheels sit stupidly close to the callipers.
I've put up with it untill now, and its starting to annoy me knowing that they are so close, just need something thing to give it abit more.
do you thing making sapces 2-3mm think would mean id need longer wheel studs? could i just use the stock studs if i made spacers this thick.
im pritty good at the lathe as i use it all the time for work, but i could also get one of the tradesman to give me a hand so thats not a worry actually making the spacer.
Thoughts?, and cheers.

If you are only going for 2 - 3 mm I don't think you will have any issues. The bolts should be fine. I doubt that you'll have any issues with balance since they will be thin and radially short.
