The rubber on the front edge of the rear driver's side window of my 325iC is splitting apart. The seal is ruined and I'm wondering if the whole window has to be replaced or if the seal can be replaced without going that route. Any info would be appreciated.
im pretty sure you can find a replacement window seal or gasket as they call it. altho cabriolet are almost never found in junk yards. you might have to ask the dealer. i hate going there. or you can ask body shops for where you can find cheaper after market stuff that they use. id stick some rubber stuff for now so moisture doesnt get in. ventura cali or cali doesnt look like it will rain for a while tho. goodluck
The real issue is that this seal seems to be a part of the front edge of the rear window. Since the seal part of it is behind and inside the front window water doesn't really get in - only air and noise although with the rest of the air noise in the cabin it really isn't that noticeable.
So does anyone know if this is a replaceable seal or does the whole window need to be replaced?
I dont know if it is replaceableor not, but i have the whole window/seal/motor assembly for both sides from a '91 325ic. Im just afraid to pull the seal off because if its not replaceable, i'll have to junk it.
I'll have to let you know about the window. I wouldn't want you to try anything with your window - it would be mine that I'd experiment on. I'm on the east coast right now and don't have access to my manual and getting to a dealer will be kinda hard since I'm supposed to be working and stuff. I wonder if anyone has the ETK/TIS disks if they could look up the rear window on a 91 325iC and see if the seal is replaceable? Or I can wait two weeks and see about it when I get home.
How much would you want for just the driver's side rear window with shipping? You can email me with that if you don't feel comfortable doing it on the board.
