Talk to any lawyer friends you have. They know what the deal is. If you think you need one they will know who the smart traffic ticket lawyers are.

Did the cop write it up as reckless? or are you thinking the judge will add that when he sees the speed? If the cop didn't write it up as reckless you may already be out of it. The conditions would definitely be a contributing factor. Were you weaving in and out of heavy traffic druing a rainstorm? Was it a clear day with no traffic? Makes a big difference and may be why the cop didn't write it up that way. If it is an automatic reckless and the judge doesn't have a choice going the lawyer route may be the best way to go. I hate them but they can work miracles sometimes.

I had a friend who got caught mailing hash into the country from overseas and had friends rat him out (they had no choice) and his lawyer got him off scot free. They even had to give him his security clearance back. If your livelihood or lifestyle is in jeopardy I'd say butch up. It's worth it in the end. You forget about the cost eventually but big brother has a very long memory.

Good luck.

No, the cop said I would have to talk to a judge in the next 28 days to see if it was going to be a wreckless or not. I was on a country road on a bight sunny day on a 6 mile straight away with 0 traffic, except for him and a van in the oncoming lane...

you might want to invest in a radar detector....its kinda late now, but they work. my buddies radar dector has paid for its self after all the tickets its saved him.

not much help for the getting you out of a wreckless situation....but that will help later on.

OK, I can't stand it anymore. The word is RECKLESS. Being wreckless means not having had an accident. Reckless means you endanger yourself or others needlessly.

I tried to make a joke about it earlier but apparently nobody noticed. I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't want to have to deal with a whole generation saying 'You're wrong, dude. You spell it with a "W". I saw it on a web site!'

Oh crap lol, I didnt even think about that or notice I spelled it the wrong way lol, anyways yeah the huge joke is I have a radar detector, its just a POS that cant detect anything other than an automatic door from 3 feet away. Or the cop was using laser in which case I dont know if the detector can do that ( i didnt put it in and I dont know what kind it is) but once I get some cash my way that the first "mod" to put in :)

The real question is how much discretion does the judge have and what is he looking at when deciding what to do? That is why I suggest talking to a lawyer. He'll know what the answer to that is. If you look in the phone bood you can sometimes find one that will do a half hour consult for free. Shouldn't take that long. Just watch the clock and don't leave hime any papaerwork to put in a file. I had one tell me he wasn't going to charge me anything until I decided to use him but I left him some paperwork and then decided not to use him and got my papers back. he started sending me a bill for $200 for putting those papers in a file folder. Frickin' bastard. I just ignored the bills until they stopped coming.
