Sounds like a great deal. By "cost" do you mean OEM price? Because the dealership does not really pay the OEM price, they pay even less than that. It still sounds like a great deal, though. Just negotiate as best you can and once you're satisfied with the price and your dealership has been treating you right, go for it!!

I decided that I was willing to pay $600 over invoice for X3 2.5 with premium and leather. I got my price at the second dealer I visited. They gave me my price in 3 minutes.
The trick is that I was willing to sign on the dotted line when they accepted my price.
For them a bird in hand has a lot of value.

PoorGuy, man you got ripped off. What dealer did you go to? I live in Orange County and went to New Century BMW in Alhambra and got a fully loaded X3 3.0i for 40160. The MSRP was 44200.
