X3 larger than X5?!?

I keep reading reviews that say the X3 has more cargo space and more passenger room than the X5. That doesn't make any sense to me.

Somebody please set the record straight!

I've been looking at an X5 so I can have room in the back seat for a toddler seat and an infant seat.

You mean the cargo room in the back, right? Yes- that is what the dealer told me as well. X3 is larger than X5 by a little.

I tell people this all the time. The X5 is large on the outside and pathetically small on the inside. The X3 accomodates to rear seat passengers much better (I have been in the X5 plenty of times, and I sat in the X3 recently) and the X5's trunk space is awful. The avareage SUV has around 30-35 cubic feet of trunk space whereas the X5 only has 16.1 cubic feet. The X3 has a much larger trunk, I believe about 28 or 30 cubic feet or so. The X3 is much more practical than the X5 (smaller on the outside and bigger on the inside), but I love the X5.

I have a 7mo old & we just changed from an infant car seat (1-20 lbs) to a larger carseat (20-60 lbs) & have plenty of room in the back of the X3. Lots of room for the stroller etc.

I had to trade in my 2001 325i 5spd,premium,cold weather,harmon kardon,xenon for the X3 to have extra room (wife doesn't drive stick)!
