Hey gang,

Just curious as to what other cars or SUVs did you guys test drive before you purchased your X3? And how did the other's compare?

The only other SUV i drove was an Explorer. The explorer was a lil roomier, but it was built nearly as well. The X3 handled much better also. Even after the X3 test drive I was thinking of going for the explorer because of price (Ford A plan), but decided to go for the X3 because of resale value, build quality and the deal I got on the X3 (BMW European Military Sales).

The Lexus RX330 is an amazing SUV in the X3 3.0i's price range. It is very practical, very luxurious, and very SPORTY. My friend just got one a few months ago and I can't believe how much of a great car it is. It's just as plush and comfy as the old one, but it FEELS surprisingly sporty. I can't stress enough as to how good of an SUV the new RX330 is.

I actual like the explorer. Just my opinion. I have never had any probs with the Ford's I have owned. I am only 22 so I don't have a shitload of extra cash to throw around, so the price was a serious factor in my decision. In the end, though, I obviously decided the BMW was a better buy.

The BMW is always a better buy. BMW has the free scheduled maintenance (including brakes) and very strong resale value, which makes the car a very economical choice despite the more pricey initial investment.

That's why I went with it too, even thought the brake dust is driving me INSANE! I shipped my car to the states today and I wont see it again until Sep 13 [bigcry] .

I drove an Explorer, Escape, Freelander, Lexus, Jeep Liberty and Jeep Grand Cherokee. they all had good things and bad things.
There have been some negative comments about the X3's interior and black bumpers, but this is an suv not a luxury car. I like it alot.

The more often you clean the brake dust, the easier it becomes to remove it.

I always strongly suggest using Eagle One A2Z All Wheel & Tire Cleaner during a car wash. Just spray the stuff all over the rim and sidewall of the tire, let it sit for 10-15 seconds, and then rinse it off. At the end of the car wash, take a white regular towel (designated as your "wheel cleaning towel") and dry off the rims....the towel will pickup any remaining brake dust.
