Hey I already posted that picture in the International Auto Show thread! You didnt even give any info on the picture like I did.

Well here is the info again: All Jaguar cars are made of alumunum, that is the car with out paint. If you own a Jag, that is what your car looks like on the inside. It is illegal for Jag to sell the car with out paint due to its blinding and accedent causing appearence.

But since its your own property, you can strip the paint after you buy the car cant you[idea] Than you'll really have a one of a kind car on the road

EDIT: I don't like that Jag, it looks too "old-people" for me lol

There are still laws, at least in California, that your car cannot attract attention in a way that could cause an acident. In other words a cop can give you a ticket and force you to paint your car or sand it so there is no gloss.

In fact in California it is illegal to modify your car in anyway other thain stock, if you lower your car you can get a ticket although no one inforces it.

Here in NJ, you can't even have anything hanging from your rear-view mirror (such as those fuzzy dice, etc.). A car shining like that on the road...no way, heh. I think Jaguar is doing a lot better than they used to. Ford buying them out was the best thing that ever happened to Jaguar.

What are you talking about?!!? My parents tell me stories and show me some pictures of when they lived in NJ for a few years. There would be cars driving around without a hood, with no trunk, etc.

You can drive around that way, but you will get a ticket for it. We used to have a ML430 and that was my car, and I had a blue underbody neon light kit. I got pulled over 3-4 times for it and ticketed once for it ($100). One of my friends got a ticket for his V1 radar detector...ticket stated that the radar was obstructing his vision. When I had my Jetta, I got pulled over twice and ticketed once for my tinted windows. New Jersey is a very conservative state and the cops really pick on the younger drivers (but I guess lots of states pick on the youngens).

I saw Audi do this on one of their cars years ago at a show. i was so interested in the finish, that i inquired about it. I found out that its illegal to have a reflective finish such that it is mirror-like.

Thus, the chromed out body job cars can only be show cars.

Just to clarify, the car isnt chromed out, it is the alumunum underbody showing without any paint. All they had to do is buff it to a shine and give it some wax.

In california the laws are strict but not inforced unless it is a major violation. Tint (limo), Neon Lights the whole works are on my friends 03' Silverado and he has never been pulled over for it. If your car is a giant mirror and can be seen from miles away, they just might pull you over.[:p]

yes, its not chrome, but thats close enough to mirror finish, a no paint buff could get.
The whole point is that your cant be a mirror, it would be a problem with other cars headlights at night for example. WIth out paint, there is not object for the vehicle to absorb color, thus becomes the mirror, and that only creates a reflection of your headlights or something else, that in turn, is actually twice the distance from you. its a definite traffic hazzard.
But dont ask me at what point it is ok to have a level of buff.
