z3 running cold

i have a 2.3 2001 z3 and when the car is running at idle the temp gauge indicates normal temp. however when i start to pick up rpms the temp gauge starts to fall in the blue zone and appears to run cold. can anyone give me any advice to this problem?? thank you very much for your time. jeff baker

It's likely your thermostat has gone away.
