I ride a long wheel base recumbent bicycle and have a special made carrier which fits a 1 1/4 inch receiver hitch and the receiver tube must be parallel to the ground. The rack works well with my Miata and lets me put up the top and get in the trunk with little effort. It will also fit my just acquired 1997 Z3 if I can find a good receiver hitch to fit this car. So far every thing I have found on the web has a verticle tube which will not work.
Does anyone out there know of a source for a receiver hitch that has the tube parallel to the ground. I have a good welder friend and can probably design on which he can make but I would rather buy off the shelf if possible. Help.
