Z3 Tranny problem

Just checking to see if anyone else has had a similar problem with their 2000 Z3. After just purchasing the car and driving 800 miles to get it home (without a problem, I should add), I have noticed now that every so often the car fails to shift from 2nd to 3rd. Typically, it does fine when accelerating through the shift, but in predominantly city driving, it will fail to make the shift and instead the engine just revs. After allowing the rpms to drop as well as the speed, it will down shift to 1st, and then will shift fine. On average it probably will do that about three or four times a day. I have an appointment to get the car in, but I wondered if anyone else has experienced anything like this and what did it turn out to be. Thanks! James in KC

I don't know about the Z3 tranny, but my 95 7 series would hold gear if I floored or gave it a good amount of gas then backed off, (such as someone cutting me off right after i gave it gas).

How many miles are on the car? When was the transmission last serviced?

There are 48,000 miles on it. Not sure when it was serviced last as nothing is in the book on it. Thanks

IS your car a four cylinder or six cylinder model? I would have the trans serviced.
