hey Nav, if you plan on getting the M package upgrade later, i don't think it matters if you get the 525 or 530.

i felt the 325 was a bit underpowered, and is a lighter car than the 5er. so you can imagine how i'd feel about the 525. as for "39 ponies" costing 5 grand, you can think of it as 20%+ hp gain for less than 20% price increase. some people want speed and power, others could live without it. that's why they offer the 525 and 530.

same goes for the new i-6 on the 325 and 330. same exact engine, 40hp difference, about 4grand? difference. (well options too, but still) but if you wanna eek out 40 more horses on the new 325, because of all the tweaks, better intake, exhaust etc already built into the 330, you'll end up evening out at the end, but with more down time and much more tinkering w/ the factory spec. i don't think its worth the trouble.

5 grand is a lot, but if you own a bimmer, you know you are overpaying for your car to begin with.

I knew that the moment I walked into the dealership. Im trading in my 04 TL. So a good upgrade. Im very content with the 525. I got the sport package, so i get upgraded 17" summer tires and wheels with runflats. Sport suspension, I also got the sport seats. the M package is not available through the factory for the 525. But is in the 530. Oh well... im luving the car, can;t wait until i pick it up.

Incase you didn't realize the 525i and 530i have the NEW engines so your underpowered 325i with the old 184hp I6 comparison is no longer true. Besides the 325i (E46 2005 and previous) had the lousy GM 5 speed tranny, the 5 series have a finer 6 speed which is why the 530i is quicker than the 330i with the same 225hp engine. Now the 525i which was already faster than if not the same as the lighter E46 325i has 215hp and a little more torque... The 525i is no longer slow, it's actually decent. The 255hp 2006 530i is a nice sized sporty car with better-than-E46-330i-acceleration. And well the 550i with 360hp as previously stated, really puts it down with 5.5 seconds to 60...

Dealing with 2 dealers

[boxface] Seems it pays to buy what's in stock over a special order. I have 2 local dealers coming down hundreds of dollars with each phone call on a 06 530XiT Sport Wagon. I was initially going to order one without all the wistles and bells (just auto & leather)but I'm getting a lower price agreeing to buy what they have on hand. Premium & Winter Packages plus the Auto and Leather for less $$$.
Now its just a matter of time till they hit the're bottom line on price.
So far it's $52,500 loaded. I guess the wagons aren't as popular or fast moving as the SUV's.
Great for me and the wifey [headbang]
WagonMan 4 Ever.
Can't wait to say yes and [driving]
