I traded a 540i 6-speed back to the dealer (Hilton Head BMW 843-815-1500) this past fall, and it's still on their lot. 36,000+/- miles, great shape, now offered CPO. I'd bargain hard, since they've had it for several months...Great car (downsized to an M 3; love the engine, miss the quiet V8). Ask for Gordon...

The lemon law is great recourse. I'm seriously considering an '05 545 since Mercedes is buying back my CLK430 convertible after it was in the shop 13+ times in 11 months. It was a 2002 I leased w/ 23,000 miles on it in November 2003. Beautiful car, but way too much trouble. I hope that the 545 issues I see here are exceptions and not the rule ...

btw, if anyone is interested in exploring the lemon law usually the attorneys work on a contingency basis. You get most of your money back and no headaches (I've never even spoken to my attorney in person, it's all been email communication.) My attorney was Raffi Mansourian (he's in the Los Angeles area but I don't know if that really matters); his email is rmansourian@sbcglobal.net. Just in case anyone wants to explore the option.
