Doesn't the 959 have perfect weight balance?[paranoid] Some people say it's the best Porsche ever built, especially for that time. I don't about other people but I would love to have that one.
I would be surprised if the 959 has 50/50 weight balance, given the engine and drivetrain (half) are in the rear, but ICBW.

It was certainly the best Porsche of the 1980s. It is only recently that Porsche is building a roadgoing car that is faster (top speed, the Turbo 3.6, 993 Turbo S and 911 GT2 can probably out-accellerate it by a tick or two).

There are a few in the US. Bill Gates has one, and his desire for the 959 was a major factor in the passage of the Show and Drive legislation that now allows virtually anything in the US, if you keep it off the streets.

For the money, I would probably go Ferrari F40 or perhaps a 288 GTO (so beautiful), but I couldn't see owning one without at least six or seven other cars in the 'garage' and that is not going to happen anytime soon.

As for the most beautiful car of all time, very difficult question. My vote may be the 288 GTO.

I don't like that 959 much. About the 50/50 weight distribution, BMW is king when it comes to that. In one of BMW's models, they placed the battery in the rear of the right side of the trunk, to counterbalance the driver.

My battery is in the trunk in the back right corner. Makes for a great place to stash booze when you're underage.

My E36 is 50/50, with the battery on the passenger side of the trunk. A number of models have put the battery in the trunk.

In the NSX, which is not 50/50, the battery is located in the front, on its own shelf, about two inches off of the ground, behind/under the spare (which sits vertical behind the radiator). Kind of crazy the first time you see it.

Most of you said that your cars are 50/50, but actually they are close to 50/50 but not 50/50, more like 49/51 or 48/52. BMW just says that most of their cars are 50/50 because they came closer to the 50/50 mark than any other sedan, coupe, convertable or stationwagon (or whatever you want to call it).

Tim I'd have to agree about the 993 thing. There is pretty much no other car (within reason) that i want more than a 933 C4. Still had the classic round headlights and stuff. Oh man, what a great car. There is a black one i always park by down at the local coffee shop, i'm still waiting to meet him and ask to trade straight up.

I am also a huge fan of the 993, but I must admit the 996 is growing on me. My buddy and I test drove a 2003 996 TT X50 on Thursday. Insanely fast. Too bad the sticker was $144k. [:0]

Don't kill me for this guys, but haha, I actually think the Skoda Octavia RS is the hottest car at the mo for me. Heh heh....

A.K.A as it's corporate sistercar... VW Jetta. Although, I think the Skoda got the better design of the two. [:D]
