One area you guys are overlooking where the M3 excells the Lotus by far: safety. The M3 is made like a tank, and you have outstanding protection in a crash. If a Lotus collides with an SUV, the driver of the Lotus is in deep shit.

The Lotus is an outstanding track car, but I have some reservations about driving it on the street. Way too many inattentive drivers for me to enjoy driving a 1900 lb car on the street.

Hey everyone im new, just a little info its not a crappy Honda motor it’s the new Toyota Celica Motor with the older 6 speed tranny. Wow the price on that car has gone up! I was offered one about 6 months ago for only 32K at a Ferrari dealership. (I was looking at having them do an aliment on my MR2) now if could drop in my 3S-GTE motor out of the MR2 I would buy the car in a hart beat! But for now I’ll hold off till I see what kinda room there is in the engine bay.

The law of supply and demand at work. The Lotus is a nice little car but overpriced in my opinion. As a daily commuter, the M3 is clearly superior.

The Lotus Elise has a Toyota 4 cylinder 190Hp engine, not a Honda engine. I would have stayed the the E46 M3. Hope the Elise is the right chioce for you.
