ETK/TIS CD ROM's

Ok I see the TIS cd is required to be inserted to use. I thought it would install like the other and not need the cd.

I really hate to be a stickler here...but I know that BMW really cracks down on people that distribute the ETK/TIS/KSD Cds. It's illegal as hell (not that I personally have a problem with it, I copy stuff for people all the time), but I've heard about people getting in trouble for stuff with BMW directly.

Not trying to discourage everyone from doing this...but perhaps it might be better to keep specifics like names and addresses to email, eh? Cuz buying pirated software is a crime too. That being said...

The way that I figure. I technically didn't sell anything. The sale of items is based on a proportional amount of profit. The $5.00 was just about enough to cover the price of the CD's and postage. Therefore it is like a little copyright infringing not-for-profit help service Thank you very much though.

I see. Upload what image¿ Exactly what problems are you having with them¿ The TIS CD has to be in order to use it. Other than that, I checked all the CD's before I sent them out, so there must be some other issue. rjp325i's ETK is functioning properly from what I understand. Are you not able to load them, or does it not work when you try to use them¿ If it just isn't working after download, then try leaving the CD's in the comp.

Yes , mine is working OK. The instructions were not clear on leaving the CD in on the TIS but not required on the other. Once I figured that out everthing is fine as you said. Thanks

i use w2k. the ETK says that it cant open database. TIS works fine.
we talked about this already, i emailed you a link to my server, and image means cd image

That's exactly what the people getting sued by the RIAA said as to why they could download and distribute songs with Kazaa and Gnutella.

The problem BMW has isn't that you are making money off their work as much as it is that they aren't getting paid for theirs.

That said I've been trying to download these disks off Overtons for about three days now and only have half a disk. Is there any way I could get a set or possibly download (ftp or something) from someone?

im really interested to have ETK/TIS CD ROM's thay u offered.
how much the cost (including shipping, coz i live outside US!)
fyi, i have "old" BMW 318i 1986 (M10, E30)

by this forum, i'd like to know if there is somebody to tell me how can i get the new ECU (Electronic Control Unit) for 318i M10? coz i've been contact the nearest BMW dealers in my country (Indonesia) if they don't have a new one.

Try eap4parts.com. He probably wouldn't have it listed, but he can get one for you. I believe that it was $5.00 for the CD's and shipping before, but I would have to check to see how much it would be for shipping over there.

i really need this Etk cd to work...

i still get an error message when the program is executed: "Unable to open ETK database"

in the installation file, does it look like this?

Are you leaving the ETK CD in the drive when you try to open it¿ That is the one thing that has to be done on some computers. I believe that is the same error message that rjp325i was getting when he was trying it. What does the rest of the screen look like when the error message comes up¿ Is it your desktop, or a different screen¿

i think the Etk cd is the one you dont have to have the cd in the drive for. This one looks through a database thats installed on the computer.
The error message shows up when you click the etk icon, its a bland looking message window that has those words and then an ok button on bottom left.
i bet you would see it if you removed your db file.... if thats true, i might have a corrupted cd.

not to mention, when it creates the shortcuts, the address are written wrong with missing quotation marks. once corrected, things run as they should, yet the error message shows up.
