PUSH better damn well be a vegetarian. If not, all the statements he's been spewing will make all of us sick. And if you're not a vegetarian what is the difference of the rights of a captive breed animal (with the main extent of being breed for eating) than that of a domesticated animal. Oh, because they are breed just for eating it's all right in your view? I love animals and would never purposefully hurt one, but I to would hit anything running out in the road (unless I have ample room to move) than to sideswipe a car, person, curb, or pole. If you're going to be high on the soapbox you better make damn sure you understand the verbiage and not stray one-inch from it. I eat animals, I am a carnivore and damn proud of it. This does not make me a savage or anyone else, just the same way it does not make anyone a savage to create road-kill when unavoidable. All cultures have animals they deem "domesticated" (i.e. would not eat, kill, or hurt) that will differ from other cultures definition and animals that are ripe for the taking. Some in our culture would find their tastes bad, but that is their culture and beliefs. You can have your non-kill-anything-that-moves-on-the-face-of-this-earth except a "human being" (that may at times run over an animal that made the mistake of running out in traffic) beliefs, but don’t expect everyone else to have the same point of view.
Being cruel to animals for fun, pleasure, meanness, or out right stupidity is looked down by me as well, but any animal (road-kill, animals breed for eating, attacking animals, rabid animals, etc…) are fair game.
