I think this whole thing is bullshit..

So that means that an 18 year old guy cannot take a 17 year old girl on a prom "night"? I understand a person like 30 and girl like 17... but when you are close to the same age it shouldn't matter.

Just another example of illogical laws...

Yes.. I agree, there are a lot of illogical laws these days...

And I have two study halls today, finished all the homework and was on the comp, I just finished eating so I'm on the comp again now.

And like Push said, our school is trying to get rid of the use of paper, they have dramatically decreased the limit of paper for all the teachers, and are very strich about printing now. They want as many assiments as possibe to be done my email, their "goal" is to make teaching digital as much as possible. All teachers also have to have the computers involved in their curriculum. I think that is such BS

BS? It is smart on the schools part. It save schools/taxpayers dollars, hold students/teachers accountable, and leaves a traceable print on the network of where you’ve been and what you’ve sent. No more, "What, you didn’t get it? I did turn it in". E-mail is a very useful tool for accountability. As long as the Network group sets up the sever(s) correctly and replicates it etc...

P.S. "Digital" is the way of the future so I can see why their "goal" is to go that route.

You do have a point, but I think they are going a bit far. It's a brand new school, all "High-tech" and "state of the art", while the temperarute in the rooms ranges from 65-80 becuase they can't get the thermometers to work, the lockers flood when it rains, and they can't rasie or lower the flag becuase it's electrinic, not on a rope like normal people do. Digital isn't always best, also considering their network sucks. They also have camera in all the halls and around the school, and they will be putting them all the clas rooms too, that basically complelty gets rid of the slightest bit of trust in teachers or students, and without trust, you don't have much. This is kind of similar I think, the country is teaching people not to have common sence. There are law suits for people getting fat from McDonalds, getting cancer from smoking, and burning themselves on hot coffee, and the people get milions of dallors becuase of the law, when in almost any other country that would never happen, that is why I think america is considered the stupidest country. I kind of got off track, either way, I think the laptos are cool and all, even with them being macs, bt you need to know where to draw the line.

Maybe in your eyes, but they have to draw the line somewhere. The law states that 17 and under is not of a lawful age. The lawful age could have been originally set at 20, 19,16, 15, etc..., but then the gripe would be that between those ages it is "no real big difference" either. There has to be a cutoff point.

This has nothing to do with the school trying to go paperless. Of course the students are going to take offence to what you call getting rid of trust between teacher/student. The camera issue I believe is for safety issues. You should be happy they are having them installed. If you are not doing anything against school policy you shouldn't have anything to worry about having cameras on installed on "school" property. The rest has nothing to do with this topic.

P.S. The MAC issue has already been discussed in numerous threads already. No need to start it up again.

I'm not doing anything bad, I don't like it though that they're watching us everywhere we go, some of the teachers are against the camera thing too actaully. I agree that the camera on the parcking lot and near all of the doors are for saftey, I don't really think it' for saftey in the casllrooms, it's a pretty safe school.

I am sure the students at the schools where a classmate brought a gun and started shooting all his/her classmates will differ with you. I bet they all thought their schools were safe before that as well. [:)]

But cameras in the class rooms wouldn't help that, by then it would be too late... I only thing is if they see them come in with the cameras near the doors, and I agree that is for saftey.
