Oh my GOD! I dont want to insult you at all, but (censored)(censored)(censored)(censored)(censored) are you thinking. any individual who leaves the FACTORY oil in the motor needs to (censored)(censored)(censored)(censored) with a big (censored)(censored)(censored). [?|] [?|] [?|] [bigcry] [bigcry] [bigcry] [scream] [scream] [V] . Why would you ever do that to a $50k+ car? ok, this about sums up the "(censored)" parts: [chair]

6,800 miles, just had the dealer do a change at 6,000 (owner pay) & have never had to add or top-off. I have heard some actually "use" oil from the start when new ??

For me though, no prob.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that although my car is not an M3, my first oil change is scheduled at 33000 Km (approx. 15000 miles).... onboard computer started with 30000 km and it has been adjusted to 33 k because of my driving style. The oil is synthetic castrol 0W40. The enigine is a 3.0 liter turbodiesel. So far (got 24 k on the car right now) had to add 3/4 quart. These distances are BMW standard for Western Europe. What do you guy's think about this?

I talked to two different dealers and both stated it is not uncommon for the M3 to burn a quart a month. Some might, some might not.....

In my experience, dirty (high mileage) oil burns. My guess about BMW claiming 1 qt/Mo being normal is in part due to the length of time between recommended oil changes. Just my .02

I agree! This was the dealer talking too.....

I don't trust half the people who work at dealers. I was told my M3 mirrors do not fold up, but I proved them wrong. Just because they are working for a dealer does not mean they know everything about the cars there. However, there are some very knowledgeable people there too.

I agree & feel 1 oil change a year is a risk, so at least do every 6K miles or 2 times a year.

That's the exact schedule I will be following. I like changing my oil; I've done it on every car I've owned so the "hands-off" feeling I have with my M is new to me.[screwy]

So our mirrors do fold, like the M5? How much pressure would you say you had to apply? I've attempted it but didn't want to force 'em. [scratch]

Yes, I know "02'" models do. It takes a little bit of preasure. You can see how they move in an angle. If you take it and move it inward it will pop out of a socket/joint and move upward. Kind of like how the gull wing of and old aircarft carrier war plane moves. If you have tried in the past you are sure to have notice how they move a little (wiggle).

I asked a service guy and he told me they don't move. As I was leaving I was talking to the GM and he came out and said they did and promply grabbed mine (I cringed) and proceeded to move them up. I went back to the service tech and made him come out and look. He was suprised.....
