I have removed the sill plates on my roadster by lifting them and using a very long thin pair of needle nose pliers squeezed the tabs and pulled them up thus being able to reuse them. Than I bought a dozen tabs and have them on hand for any future work.

No, he asked if the chain needed replacing, so we told him "it's a belt" that needs changing every whatever thousand miles. It's better that we tell him it's a belt incase he didn't know the real deal.
Damn Ottawa people. You must be in politics.[unsure] ...or a sens fan[spank]!!

Could be worse... you could be a Leafs fan [xx(]

[cheers]
Hate the sens, hate the leafs, habs rule, and you know it.[hihi]

And far from politics...LOL.

Ok.....

Now that you guys have rambled on a bit. Yes, I don't want a 1/2 arse job! I want it done right. Bavarian Auto parts say 's the only way to do that is to pull the sills. I have their special kit for doing it but no instructions on how to use the tool. It contains 5 pannel removal tools...not a clue on which one is for door sills?

I could just barge right in the Special Forces way.... but that often makes things messy! So if anyone can tell me how to use these tools to loosen those buggers off I'd be mighty thankful! [drinking]

I will take pics once I start the process for folks in the future who are dumb like me and like taking on new carpet installation. The bentley E30 manual doesn't show jack! on removing carpet! [scream]

Thanks...you guys are pretty funny![hah] Reminds me of my uncles going at each other

Ok, remove the sills at your own descretion, the clips that hold the sills down are a bitch, hence their name "the bitch clip"
I have a couple of split sills as the result of doing it wrong, you must slide the flat tool under the sill, lever up and twist the tool sideways to put pressure on around the clip itself and not the sill.
You will have to purchace new clips as you will root them.
see how you go, lets see some photo's!

Pics ...you got them!

Thanks for the key word on the sills....Bitch clip! I will remember that when I start in about 2 months putting the kit in! I will take photos and plan on taking the weekend to install it...nice and slow.

Since all of you guys say its a bitch....it really must be...I will order new clips and have them on hand since I'll likely bugger it up!~

I would assume sliding the carpet out first before trying to remove the sills will give me a little more wiggle room? Is that a correct assumption?

I'll keep everyone posted once I start the fun!

Your from Toronto, so more American than Canadian. [hah] [doorpeek]
Now that's a low blow ya frenchman![shake] You go over to Gatineau and Hull all the time 'cause there's nothing to do in Ottawa! Maybe someone will pave Carling one of these days! Terrible roads in Ottawa! [cheers]

Joseph, I called you a Kiwi 'cause you called me American! I should kick you in the balls for that!

Okay, most of this post is off topic!! Good luck this weekend, try not to break too many clip, or your sills! Can't wait to see the pics. I need a new carpet...BADLY!
