eric, i would not be too sure if they do not continue. those guys got hurt before and still cariied on. sure this incident is another league but they do that for years and years now. if he makes it back to the way he was before they will keep up the show.

siegfried and roy without roy though is a very funny description [hihi]

The show is now no more and will never return. Many are saying that the actions of the tiger were protective in nature and not violent intended to do harm. When he fell, the tiger picked him up by the neck from instinct. When they intend to do harm, it is much different and usually involves the front of the neck and not the back.

My fathers 23 year old housecat will bite you if you pet it for to long. Imagine if it was four hundred pounds. I highly doubt that they will restart the show though. The CEO's of the mirage are a little edgy now. If that were to happen to a customer, it could quite possibly put the entire casino out of business. As far as people losing their jobs. The folks that take care of and maintain the animals are not under the employment of the mirage. They are payed directly out of the pocket of Siegfried and Roy. It is not up to the CEO's if they keep their job. I would have to say that the makeup artists and custume, people are pretty safe. When they were talking about booting people, they were speaking mostly of the lighting and sound people. They are looking for a scapegoat that they came blame the spooking of the tiger on.

bryan330i, that is a very interesting thought about that protection instinct. indeed it makes kind of sense. only thing i do not understand is why the tiger hit him? he did, didn't he? that was at least what i read about it.

There are a couple of different stories goin around as to how it happened. Some people say that the tiger bit him in the hand so he hit it on the head with a microphone,. Thus severely pissing off the gargantuan feline. Some say that he made a sudden move that was not rehersed catching the tiger off guard. Either way, he let himself get entirely to comfortable around an animal that cannot, and will not ever be a domesticated animal. They had a game warden and tiger guy from India talk about it and he has been around tigers since he was like four (granted the guy is like 65). He used to care for the young cubs who's mothers were killed by poachers. He had raised somewhere around 120 of these animals and said that in no way could it ever be considered a domestic animal. If you judge tameness by being able to pet the animal, then they are tame. If you judge tameness by being able to take the animal out in public and let other people pet it, then they are not. Most importantly, if you judge tameness by the animals predictability, it is one of the most untame animals ever kept in captivity.

Not quite like they carry there young, but it was definately not trying to kill him. What I don't understand, is why everybody thought it was part of the act. Maybe Penn and Teller would have something like that, but a tiger biting somebody in the noggin and having blood flowing from his neck is not something that would ever be staged at a Siegfried and Roy show.

Yeah, I don't think the tiger was trying to kill him. I watch the Discovery channel. I've seen the big cats attack. Even logically, a huge cat with very long and sharp teeth with a little skinny gay man's neck in it's mouth. One good shake and bite and we have a dead performer. Even Arnold's neck wouldn't survive.

Sucks the show's over. I liked that show. Got a cool felt tiger sticker back when I saw it as a kid. I'm not a big fan of most of the other shows they have in Vegas. FXS sucked in comparison. I wanna see the Cirque de Soleil shows and that's about it.
