Omg, give me a break with the SRT-4. It's packing an electric motor with a turbocharger on it. My G doesn't even have any trouble with SRT-4's, whether it's low-speed starts or highway runs. The 0-60 is fast, but the engine is small and lacks real torque.
As for track racing, there are many more variables involved, but I'm sure that an M3 can easily out-accelerate an SRT-4.

M3 also has a much much better top end. Think of the final drive ratio of that neon versus the M3. The M3 is also higher revving. The Neon has 250 lb-ft torque, the M3 has 262... but the neon's turbocharged, which means it must spool up before it's useable torque is reached. Same reason my friends 370hp dodge stealth R/T (twin turbo) runs slower than a new M3. The powertrain loss is huge in that car... but even so.

Efficiency of the Getrag is a plus too.

hi there, this is my first post and am proud owner of euro spec 95 non-evo m3,manufacturers claim of 287 hp while american verson has 240.the non m3s have the obd1 computer management system which is much easier to chip and take off speed limiter
I DONE THE ABOVE AND IT POWERS RIGHT OFF THE SPEEDO AT 165 SO THE NEON MIGHT LIVE WITH IT TO 60 MPH BUT AFTER THAT AS LONG AS THE BMW DRIVER KNOWS HOW TO DRIVE AFTER 480 MILES THE M3 DRIVER COULD HAVE A JACUZZI,
MAYBE I AM JUST A LITTLE BIT BIASED

"What an idiot. This kid has a Dodge Neon SRT-4. My M3 is basically built for Seca. How is a FWD Neon going to beat an M3? Never."

Your original question wasn't if two computers were driving the cars, but if this young fellow was. If this young fellow is a good driver, and you are not, you will lose the race.

If a single driver drives both and compares lap times I'm sure the M3 will be out ahead by a few seconds, an eternity in road racing.
This sentence was not related to my original post. It was related to something someone else said. If people are going to compare company controlled numbers, then lets have a computer drive it. That is what I was saying.

You shouldn't even have doubts. Doubts lead to being intimidated, which could cause you to lose. Unfortunately, the key to winning is to be cocky, IMO. If you're sure you can beat the SRT-4 on the track, your driving will be confident and good, and remember to take no prisoners.

Of course. But I am not driving from Massachusetts to Arizona to race against some kid. I just posted how funny some peoples thinking is. A 500 hp Civic could not out time an M3, yet some people will argue with you until blue in the face it would.

Huh????? That's not what you orginally posted. The thread title "This kid says he can beat my '03 M3 at Seca ". You didn't talk about computers, you clearly were talking about drivers (see the word HE?). That is what you asked, and several people answered that question. HE in the SRT might be able to beat you in your M3!

If you don't believe it, go to SCCA.org and look at the results from the Solo II Nationals. You will see instances where SRTs turned faster laps than M3s.

As I said before, with equal drivers the M3 has the edge.

I have have spent many hours going around lime rock and road america and all I can say is most you guys are just full of testosterone and bull shit.

on the track the better driver will win

the faster car in the hands of the lesser driver just ends up scuffing off all the speed in the wrong places .

go to a driving school and learn to control threshold braking, lift throttle oversteer and late apex cornering and then you to will understand why a closed course pushes the bar way way up on driver skill.

You sound like a prick. Everyone knows its the driver. But if there was the same driver in each car, thats what we are comparing.

Every time I drive across this road that is right in the middle of the desert, either a dodge neon or a civic tries to race me......never fails. I beat this guy the other night who was talking sh*t because I was a girl. He couldn't even beat with his nos tank [unsure]
