Here are some of my thoughts:
First: The pride story
In my eyes americans love to exaggerate their pride. A front yard with 5 flags and countless blue red and white goodies is just too much and somehow tasteless. You can be proud of your country without the urgend need to show off that much. i am proud of the results my girlfriend achieved in their exams but i don't have them tattooed on my shoulder or better on my forehead so everybody can see it.
furthermore i strongly believe that if germany would start pulling up flags all over the nation and singing the anthem at each and every occasion the world would think the 4th reich will be right around the corner just waiting for the next austrian.
i like the us and i like living here, but this pride thing is exaggerated. most people i met that were proud in a silent way seemed to be way more capable of living socialy. i mean, with them i could talk and discuss about each and every topic. while sitting in the ball park and talking to some guy wearing a hat styled as the flag was just disgusting. he asked me why i was not singing the anthem? well, i am german i said. he said you are here, sing it. pardon? do you want to force me doing something i don't want? i live here yes. i am still german yes. that works? hell yes!!! i don't have to sing your anthem and won't ask you to sing mine.
Second: Foreign policy
Oh yeah, well big daddy could you recit me please? we discussed that so many times
, you sure enough could write a book about it.
the us likes to apply double standards. the one for their own, and the other one for the world. Free trade is the key, but please let's protect our market here with anti dumping rules. oxymoron par excellance!
conflicts are to be solved peacefully when two countries are having a problem. the us is involved, well let's go there and make sure we get rid of that problem by any means.
(Attention: we discussed that so many times that we really do not have to exchange our opinions on that again, i just wanted to give those that are new a european view
)
overall statement: I really like the us and i really like living here. and when people say that i should better leave just because i am not satisfied with the politics and some social live issues is just so contradicting to the freedom this country is cased on and build for. everyone should have his own opinion and be free to say it. the reply "get out then" is first aggressive and second it somehow forbidds him to have another and critical idea of this land.
i have a critical mind on some points. unfortunatelly it is only the negative aspects people takl about. talking about the positives where everyone agrees is just boring right?
And now just have a nioce day y'all
