How do you know how much eric will be earning later on in his life? How do you know he won't be able to afford any of those?

Plus, you bought a 330, not a G35, not the Z4 and not the M3. You could have bought any of those, but you didn't, so don't you think my comment has more basis then yours?

Aww [:I][:X] [:I]

Let me know when the wedding is...

[:o] You gotta be kidding me... If you wanna get on his goodside send him a private message, he took a cheap shot at me, and I took one back it's simple nonsense get over it.

As for your comment having any basis... it still has none, I can afford all three of those cars at the same time, but would it be practical or even smart? NO. I don't think I need to go over my rationale for not purchasing any of them. Case closed, I know the board is rather civil and eventless but please get your fix of action from some one else.

Not sure how this discussion "devolved" into the latter messages. In any event, I have nothing against hp and 333 of them is a nice uniform number. I wish my Z4 had that many! The thing is torque (and gearing) still plays a big role. I had an RX-8 that reportedly made 238 hp, 13 more than the Z4 3.0. Car weights are about the same. But the torque (159 ft. lbs.) was "piddly" to say the least. It didn't make it's max hp until 8500 rpm and torque until something like 5500 rpm. The Z4 will beat it to 60, 100 and higher without question...and gets way better gas mileage to boot.
I'm sure there are dozens of examples, but even as you go up in hp, you also get more torque in most cases. MB differs from many in that they build "autoban cruisers" and thei engines almost always produce more torque than hp; and the AMG cars are seriously fast even though the cars are on the weighty side...and E55 wagon that does 0-60 in 4.5-7 secs!
BMW tends to be more balanced in hp and torque, but the M3 still produces most of its goodies a lot closer to the red place on the tach.[hatchet]

Not trying to get on his goodside, we are friends as it is. Once again, you don't see why I said you wouldn't own any of those cars and I will leave it at that, if all you can do is brag about what you can buy, go on, no one cares.

Also, epj didn't take a cheap shot at you, he took a shot at the board and generally, his comment is correct.

I dont get whats with you.... You seem to enjoy this, I personally am amazed that he hasn't came in to personally thank you for your show of support in a matter of nonsense. [rofl]

Let me make it simple, I don't adhere to your arcane way of thinking. Whatever you were trying to say makes no sense, but as long as it makes sense in your head then it's all bright and rosey for you. I'm sure you're at that introductory college age where you're owning the world and you know everything and whatnot but the simple rule from Communication 101 (if you paid any attention) still applies if what you're saying (or in this case think you're saying) isn't properly conveyed and the intended recieving party (in this case me, however unwilling and uninterested I may be as to what you have to say) doesn't understand what the heck you're saying YOU'RE NOT COMMUNICATING. If you're not communicating then why did you even take the time to post that response, I guess his comment about the board is correct afterall and I cite you as my first piece of evidence.

Now that this is hopefully all said and done, tell me... What did you hope to accomplish afterall? If it was to waste my time then congrats up onto now you have succeded. Did you wanna know when I plan on dumping the 330i? As soon as the warranty comes close to running out, maybe sooner... Am I planning on buying an M3? Possibly, it's been an option for some time now... If I whole heartedly meant that comment I wouldn't have included a " [nutkick] " in there ever think of that? When will the children realize just how futile forum arguments are.... I'm sure a "clever" self-righteous post is going to follow this, hopefully a moderator will lock the thread.

Since I started this thread, I can't agree more with the moderator. I just was looking for some opinions as to why the Z4 seemed to be lacking in popularity as I've found it to be a really nice sports car. It's done well at AX events even on street tires. It's not slow and I think the hp may be a little underrated given its performance. Early on, BMW marketed it though the BMW films such as "Hostage" but beyond that, I've found only one commerical advertisement and i saw that at the dealer in the BMW electronic "inforomation center" which was really neat. You can "build" any BMW, see the films, advertisements for all models, etc., and any enthusiast would find it of some interest., I think.
One thing that has yet to be addressed from my original message is the IPod issue. I ordered it for my car and after to attempts by the dealer to make it work, discovered that it is "not compatible" with the premium audio system. I'm guessing it's because the Carver amp is in the trunk? The headset has the connector port and it charges my IPod (and the IPod plays of course), but there is no sound. How could BMW be so ignorant when it comes to this. The permium audio system is more limited that the base crapo radio???? I have a Griffin fm modulator but it is a poor substitute for a direct connection.
On the performance side of the discussion, there is no question that the M# is faster. It also goes for $10k more comparably equipped, particularly with the deals you can get on the Z4. Anyway, I still fell I made a good choice. This comes from a certifed car idiot who has owned three BMWs, seven Mercedes, two Miatas, and RX-8, works at an SCCA race track for club events and Ax every month. And it get noticed by lots of ladies of all ages, too, all with favorable comments. [driving2]

My mom has an '05 Z4 and I absolutely love it. Something about roadsters just makes them a pleasure to drive. It's nimble, rightfully quick, and it certainly draws its share of attention.

The suspension is very stiff (which would be a problem in my daily commute) , but since I only drive it for pleasure- I couldn't be happier. The stereo is also incredible.

Sure, I've driven faster, better handling cars- but few have left such a genuine smile on my face. I really just get a kick out of the fact that I can reach back from the drivers seat and touch the rear wheel-well. :)

Jim, I too am a Z4 fan, I'm waiting for the MZ4 (which I expected at Frankfurt, but Nooooooo...)

I have seen a Z4 run Autocross in my area, stock class. He beat the next closest car in the class by over 1 second. Afterwards, I talked with him. He is a BMW tech at an area dealer, and if I recall correctly, over 10 years tech experience, 5 years of AX and 2 years of club racing. The dealership sponsors him and gives him a car each year!

He said that the Z4, in terms of "out of the showroom" stock setup, handles better for Autocross than ANY of the other production BMWs, including the M3. (yes, he has driven them all). He also feels that the Z4 is overlooked in the AX and club racing stock classes.

Kirby,
That's good to hear. I, too, have done pretty good on street tires in AX. It just befuddles me that more are not run competitively. SCCA dosen't do BMW any favor since it classes the Z4 in A Stock along with Boxsters, 993 Carreras, S2000s, etc. all of which weigh less and have more hp. The RX-8 runs in B Stock almost alone now and it weighs almost the same as a Z4 and has 13 hp more! Seems like SCCA is always doing little "favors" for Mazda? [:(!]
