It was a desparate move for the spotlight by people whose careers are fading. Jackson is a nobody, and Timberlake is lost without the other Boys.

As far as MTV goes, I used to watch it when it was MUSIC Television. Now it is pathetic trumped up situation game show network (Road Rules, Real World, etc.) that have no bearing to anything that goes on in any close-to-normal person's life. MTV used to be unique, now they just suck and are desparate for ratings so they produce controversial crap. MTV is the Jerry Springer of the music industry.
