Hell fu*king no!! I've got this thing called college and a future to look forward to. I'm not going to be drafted to fight in a war I dont support that we shouldnt be in anyways, for a person I hate. Nooooo way i'm giving MY life for that. If it were to defend the country, like fighting in afghanistan, then yup, I'd proudly go.

I registered right after I was 18. If it comes to the point where they have to, then I would go in before, and choose where and what I want to do. That's what my father did in Vietnam. But if need be, then yes I would. But right now, there is no need, we have plenty of military and resources.

I'm split on the issue. I see it as my duty to go if I'm called. It would be an adventure. I've often thought about joining the military, but my parensts wouldn't have it. If I got drafted, then I could finally go do it. The only reason I don't like the idea is because I'm now settled into college and have a nice little life going.

There are so many conflicting reports that I think it is difficult to say if it is needed. I am concerned that we may be spread a bit thin and I would be concerned that “if/when” (depends on who you ask) another attack in the US takes place, we may not have needed resources here to deal with the problem. Locally there is talk of police coverage issues because of the war.

I've already been to Iraq and gotten out of the military. The messed up thing is that I might have reenlisted but they would'nt offer me anything that would make it worth it. The re-enlistment NCO told me that the army was overpowered by their numbers(i think otherwise). This was in July 2003 while I was sitting in a theater next to the Tigris. But then again long term I can see a lot of soldiers getting out, especially after this month. I'm dreading a draft because I'm still committed to the inactive reserves until Sep 2007. Which means that although I'm out and I don't have to go any drills, I would probably be called before they start drafting people.

i choose hell no based on the situation and the way the country is being run right now...

also, if the us actually lets the UN do most of the talking, i dont think there would really ever be a need for the draft.

maybe i would support it if things looked better on our end. hell, im not patriotic for this ****ed up country anyhow - i would rather be a german resident! Tim, im moving in!!!

This country is not controlled by one man nor to be judged by one situation. This is the greatest country in the world. Stand up and be proud regardless of what you dont like or you do like. Its just like a family, you may not like everything about your parents or your siblings, but by gosh they're family.......and we are Americans and if you dont like what is going on, then do something about it or move somewhere else. It wont happen in a day or even a year, but over time if everyone does some part, maybe our country can be even better than it is..........life is not perfect, nor will it ever be, this country will never be perfect, our current President will never be perfect either, nor will Kerry if he is elected..........sometimes its just called life folks, but you travel overseas often enough and you'll come back and want to paint your house red, white and blue.....

Count your blessings that you were born an American and count your blessings if you got over here as fast as you could and became a citizen........

The talk was the same during Vietnam and after Vietnam.......history repeats itself........some happy, some not........but be proud..........

Pretty broad question there! I mean under what circumstances?

If there were a real reason for increasing the militaries number, maybe. But for the current situations that are in the news, I second mrferg's reply.

Actually we are in this war becuase of ONE man. Read bob woodward's book.

It doesnt effect you unless you have kids, brotheres or relatives anyways. If you were 18 getting ready to go to college like ME who still has hopes for the future to have success, you would have had a different opinion. Being drafted would ruin all chances I have of affording college (you do not get enlistment bonuses if you are drafted) and would pretty much **** up my life.

If i were drafted to fight the war in TERROR in afghanistan or whatever, then I would proudly go, but the war in iraq is a lie, and I'm not fighting for something I don't believe in for an idiot who's administration doesnt trust him. The statement about vietnam was stupid. There was already huge problems in vietnam before we stepped in, but the problems in iraq didnt begin until we went in.

Until i see that iraq was an immediate threat to the US or its allies, I will not support it. Over a year now and still nothing. Being drafted this time is not a matter of patriotism like the rest of you have been brain washed to think. Patriotism is a matter of defending the country and what the country stands for, but what our country stands for is freedom (ie constitution)... and it's pretty sad that right now, we are LESS FREE than the country we fought back in the 1700's to gain our independence from. Doh!!

BTW I'm registered to vote, be drafted, and am also card-carrying member of the ACLU (was part of a class where we wouldnt have to donate the entire $20 if we chose to do it). Honestly, it scares me to think that bush could be reelected. I think kerry is a douche bag, but I can only hope bush will not be reelected.

ACLU...yuck.....Sorry bud but that is about a liberal commie plot organization as any I have ever seen
Well, it's more about upholding the constitution, like that girl today in PA who was taken out of school becuase her shirt said "Bush: 1 term president" ACLU woulr probably step in if she sues.

I'm not liberal or conservative, I'm moderate, but like i said, bush scares me, and I'm voting for what I believe is the less of 2 evils (which is how politics exists -- all politicians are evil, they just try to prove that they are less evil than the other.)

There are things the ACLU defends that I dont believe in -- like gay rights. I'm not homophobic but I dont think they should be allowed to be married just like a man and woman and call it marriage.

I'm just giving you a hard time. I do not like the ACLU, I think they stick their noses in places it does not belong. They pretend to represent the people, but only if the people think like them.

Yea i know, like I said i dont support them fully. Politics are no fun.

The only part of the government that kicks ass is the blue angels.
