Maybe not Lowe's but Junglestlyz is fundamentally correct. Check this link: http://www.westshoretech.com/products.cfm

All the used/surplus stuff you need - Reactors, incubators, cell harvesters, electrophoresis equipment, temperature controllers, etc. etc. The EQUIPMENT is not particularly hard to get at all!

There are plenty of people in the world that have the skills to take this equipment and produce whatever they want. The two prime reasons nothing has happened so far:
1) High Moral and ethical standards of those people who COULD do it but WOULDN'T
2) Access to Starter cultures of pathogens

Both of these barriers can be overcome by $$$$ or illegal means if one is very determined.

Take a look on the equipment on this web site and compare it to the reports and photos of the WMD trailers that were found. YOU form your own opinion. I am presenting you with documented FACTS.....

I am only 22, so I have no right to say people don't know what they are talking about because they are young. But, I would have to aggree with his point that it does hurt a lot more, when you are actually there, with you feet in the mud. Personally I know that I would go insane if I had a family right now. I just couldn't deal with it, so you are more mature than me on that point. There are however many different aspects to being knowledgable other than maturity. Look at George Carlin.

Actually an incubator would only take about a day to make, you don't neccesarily need a reactor, or electrophoresis equipment, if you have a somewhat thorough knowledge of microbiology. Actually, the hardest part would be growing it. There is one thing that was added to the post office anthrax that made it extremely virulent, that can be purchase from most industrial suppliers.

This applies to anthrax, the culturing of Clostridium botulinum toxin is extremely dificult. As is working with viruses. Viruses, require an extensive understanding of molecular biology, virology, and biochemistry.

I know very little about micro. What I have picked up I learned from my wife. She has her Master's in Clinical Micro, and is an MD working towards a fellowship in Infectious Disease. She has made it her life to save people and gets really angry about the fact that it is used INTENTIONALLY to kill people.

yup, and that is because no one knows "what if" but wants to justify his position with the results this "what if" causes. we had a similar discussion before and agreed that now all we can do is hope the decission was right.

What if we all just stayed away from political conversations¿ What if we stopped posting threads that would lead to these topics, knowing that they only cause disputes and arguments¿ Either that, or what if we had a secluded forum, far away from everything else, at the bottom of the page, that held nothing but political threads¿

jungle, actually i like those political things. they keep the board alive. as long as they stay at a mature level where no member starts flaming the other one and the real bashings goes off, i have nothing against an occasional dispute.
i love looking back to the ones with the bear [:D]

for the political forum, we discussed that already. we agreed that a special forum for those topics might even more attract political disputes and create that flaming atmosphere. in that case members would start to get real ugly and personal. we are afraid that those feelings would get carried over to the rest of the board and ruin it, or at least harm it.

at the end of the day it is only a few of us anyway that take part in discussions like that. from that point of view those discussion will die out sooner or later.
