C'mon guys ease up on him... He just lost his car, burried in accounting homework and feeling pretty shitty.. I feel bad for Ellusive
I have kids that play outside. I have many many cars that fly down my street every day. When I hear someone driving like that in a residential neighborhood I will let him or her have a peace of my mind. My best friends neighbor had his 7 yr old daughter hit by a car speeding through their neighborhood, so I don' need you to say, "ease up" to me about it. I yell at every one of the cars I see speeding through my neighborhood as well. MrElusive has responded and I understand his point of view. Not everyone can be a man and explain himself (without having to lie to make it better) like MrElusive has done and I respect him for that. And yes this is a touchy subject. One day when you have kids you just might understand, but then again maybe not.

I definitely understand what I did was wrong. I mean, I live on a 25 zone as well and I am always strict to go 30mph...lots of people walk/jog on my street and I don't want to be disrespectful to them. I got carried away this time and I paid the price for it. I just wish no damage was done to be beloved car...I love my car like a son, lol. Infiniti just called me and the guy was really nice. He's gonna have a mechanic check it out and do his best to get my ass a loaner ASAP.

wow, gone for a weekend and look at all the excitement I missed.

Glad no one was hurt. Too bad about the G. If it was an axle, that worries me. My friend broke one on his accord. I don't think it drove the same after that.

I really don't know how much the traction control would have saved you. Have you tested it out? I've peeled out a little bit (unintentionally) making really sharp turns at low speeds while punching it on the bmw. It's a lot better while going 30 and makign a turn. I did that in a G35 and the tail end swung out a lot more.

i'm not sure what the road conditions were, but u might have been able to catch that slide.
you NEVER hit the brakes when u're sliding...i'd take a driving course if i were u, it'll give u a lot more confidence.

lol the worst part is u were in 1st. =]

but u'll be ok. the car will be back to normal soon and u'll appreciate her EVEN more now =]

Yup. I'll be 27 at the end of the month. Does that surprise you?
Yeah, I thought you were like 50, jeez. Your advice is always so serious and well-thought-out only an old man could have typed it up.
Still waiting for the call back from Infiniti....I gotta go back to school in like a little over an hour. [V]

I just got the call !! I need all this new crap...what rapes me is that I need a new left rear rim, which is $1,000 plus all these other parts. The good news is that my suspension will be back 100% and he's going to overnight the parts, so I will have the car back by Wednesday or Thursday, assuming there is no problem with the parts. YIPPEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah, total repair costs come to around $3,200 - $4,900 depending on labor. Worst-case scenario is $4,900...I hope that's not the case. [V]

Just to elaborate on the above. Recovery of a slide will involve steering and throttle input. Essentiall, you crank the wheel the other way, until you feel a pause as the car's momentum changes, and then straighten it and hit the throttle (gently). The pause is the tricky part, as you will slide the other direction if you overcorrect, which is what usually happens.

I don't have this down yet, so don't feel bad.

If you do lose control over the car, at least on a road course, the safest thing to do is go "both feet in" by slamming on the brakes and pressing in the clutch. This should put you in a 360 spin or more, but will stop the car relatively soon and keep it traveling in the direction it was going when you put both feet in (not a point to forget if you are about to hit something). So, in that instance, you should hit the brakes while sliding, but only after you have 'lost it'.

Dude, I don't feel bad for you AT ALL

. Your parents are paying for you? You were speeding in a residential neighborhood- That's why that guy was running after you. You left the scene of an accident which is a felony and you can't drive which is evident from slamming brakes in the middle of a slide and losing throttle control from a pothole.

count yourself lucky

I knew you would have a smarta$$ comment. Just goes to show how immature you really are. One day it will all catch up to you and you will have no one to blame but yourself. Always remember; what goes around, comes around.

Leaving the scene of an accident is definitely not a felony if there were no injuries. Doesn't sound like it here. He probably wouldn't even be charged if the cops found out unless whatever he hit belonged to a private residence. If it's just a curb, the city and cops prolly wouldn't bother due to the paperwork.

And yeah, for $1000+, you could almost get a set of 4 rims off someone who's selling theirs b/c they bought aftermarket.

The rim alone is $900, not including mounting and balancing. I didn't really leave the scene of an accident, and I wasn't gonna leave but that guy came running after us screaming "MOTHERF*CKERS!!!". I think leaving was the smartest thing I could have done. There are skid marks on the road and where I slammed into the curb, but that's it. If that guy wanted to violent, we would have ripped him open because it was just an accident. I get my car back Thursday and my parents are going to pay for the final costs but I gotta pay my parents. Now I have to take up a job and work for like a year just over a stupid 15-minute drive. We literally had no destination, we were just driving around for the pure pleasure of driving.
Btw, I don't count myself lucky. I have to pay like $5,000 to fix my car, that is not luck, that is just ridiculous. Fortunately, the car (particularly the suspension) will be 100% back to normal once it is repaired.

Egads! $900 per rim!! Man just get some aftermarket rims, I had no freakin' idea stock Infiniti rims costed so much! [ohcrap]
Remember, this is a leased car. If he doesn't buy a factory rim now, he will just have to pay for one when he turns it in, and then be stuck with a set of aftermarket rims that fit a G35, 350Z, etc., if he doesn't buy the car at lease end.

I think you could get a set of SSR GT1 or GT3 for pretty cheap at www.tirerack.com , if you decide to go that route. I have seen them on a G35 (GT3 w/gunmetal centers) and thought they looked badass.

Do you honestly think I was telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth in my story? I'm taking the truth of what happened to the grave. I didn't "go into a slide", people are misunderstanding. I spun out to the side, which was completely unintended and as soon as it happened, my left rear wheel slammed into the curb but I kept sliding all the way around. I think it handled the car decently well, the only thing I regret not doing is turning the wheel to the left. There is a difference between spinning out and going into a slide (especially when you have intentions to slide).
I left the scene because that jerkoff was running at me like a moron who thinks he saw something, but he didn't see shit, and he would have called the cops and told them some ridiculous story and the cops would have bought his story over mine....heh, no thanks. The damage in repairs were enough, I don't need trouble with the cops.

Either way, I don't need to defend myself. I do know that I didn't need or deserve to end up with thousands of dollars worth of repairs just for some harmless drive...nobody deserves that. Now I am gonig to be paying for the repairs for a whole year, working every week-end, this whole thing makes me sick to my stomach.

"I hope we've learned a lesson"

[wave]

Hey Mr. 'E'

I guess it's gonna be... (repeat after me)

"Will that be paper or plastic, sir?"

"... and can I Supersize that for you?" [:D]

"Welcome to Wallmart."

Sorry, I couldn't resist...
