i like how it says 277bhp stock, but in reality at the crank i've heard rumors of 300. they just say 277, or tune it to 277 to sell it in japan.

thats what i've heard anyways.

No matter how much horsepower will Skyline have, it will never outperform the MCLaren, because the MCLaren is a car which has been build from the ground up. I have seen 800-900 horsepower cars compete with MCLaren and there is no chance.

My M5 does 400 meters in 11.6s, and can rach speeds of 345km/h. If I pass that skyline at this speed it will rip that spiler down. [hihi] Don't even compare Nissan with BMW. Even on the track is no match.
BMW IS A CHEAP VERSION OF A BIG BODY BENZ. So quite dissin nissans cause, bimmers aint that great

what about this one? :p

there are other variations that pump more than 1400bhp! lol... surprised to see this car shut down so quick :p.

its quite funny, they showed a top gear video once of a stock skyline beating Hyundai's latest WRC on a quarter mile strip. OK given it WAS a hyundai, it was still amusing to watch[:D]

You're not alone. [:)] I don't know if you checked out previous posts, but a couple of us said we wouldn't get a Nissan Skyline for $90K...we all had other cars on our minds for that price. I personally would rather have a Porsche 911 C4S or just the 911 Carrera nicely loaded. Or maybe even the new M5 that's coming out (which I'm guesing is going to cost like $80K-$90K). [:D]

When it comes to the Skyline there is one really important question, how many of us want to shift with our left hand. The engine in a Skyline is a small displacement (2.8L) M3 motor with twin turbos strapped to it, plus AWD and all wheel steering along with a host of electronics that are not tneed on a nat. asp. engine. Theoretically if you were to put a turbo or two on an M3 it would destroy all.

M3 motors are not 2.8L, E36 and up have been 3.0 then 3.2, but i get your point.

but also the M3 does not have turbos, never will. and if you TCed a new M3, sure you'd get the power, but man, that engine wouldn't last long.

Sure it would, look at it this way if you were to take the twin turbos off of a Skyline then you would be left with a 2.8L, I-6 vs. the M3's 3.2L, I-6. Conversely if BMW decided that they would use forced induction in the form of twin turbos, along with the proper tuning, then nothing would be able to bet it.

Actually, bmw has been putting out around the same number of cars if not more than Mercedes the past few years.

That's from 2001, I know i've read a more recent article stating that bmw sells more cars/year, but can not find it.

i think in one of the topgear vids jeremy clarkson said some thing like "the skyline wasnt meant to compete with bmw/porshe, it was meant to compete with sega's super rally gt arcade game. its a L 50,000 playstation. "

but then he did call smg rubbish, so u cant really go by that.

The thing about the E46 M3 motor is that it is a very high-strung motor. It's only 3.2 liters and puts out 333hp, and has an 11:1 compression ratio. You just can't reliably supercharge or turbocharge it.

You are correct MrElussive, but we are only talking hypothetically, the compression is so high to extract the most from a naturally aspirated engine. You could lower the compression of the engine and do what you wish to it. That why I say if BMW were to do it, if I were to do it I would be picking my engine up with a Spoon ( the utensil not the tuner company).
