I don't think there is much of an "experience" to a Z06. Audi, BMW, and Porsche are pretty much the only car companies in which their vehicles actually make you feel good about pushing them. Also, their vehicle-driver communication are second to none. The Z06 is certainly a superb performance car especially for the price, but I'd still rather have an M3. The M3 is a driver's car from the ground up, offers good luxury for daily driving, and is much safer than the Corvette.
the point of my post was to show how wizard's feelings regarding the 911 are not exclusive to the 911. certainly you feel a porsche, an audi or a bmw provide a better all around experience (and i agree) but if you ask z06 enthusiasts, you will find they love the car for the "experience" it provides (whatever that means to them).

personally, i really dont appreciate the styling of a z06...and styling is part of the overall "experience" for me, so the z06 is not a car which provokes much excitement or emotion. i just took exception to the attack from wizard on my car experience and his comment that if i wanted a car just for straightline speed i should go buy a z06...seemed a bit ignorant. its not really worth arguing though...no big deal. im happy he loves his porsche.

It is all a matter of PERSONAL prefrence....we each have our own formed opinions (based on experience or rumor) about our particular favorite brand of car. Just because Mr. wizard doesn't share the same passion about an M3 vs. his 996 doesn't make the 996 better or worse than the M3, it is HIS opinion. BMW is NOT the end all say all in automotive engineering either, there are companies that are producing better road going and performanced based cars than BMW and as much as I HATE to admit it, most of these companies carry Asian tags. You cannot compare the ZO6 in this at all, not even the same class of car. Corvette like Mustang, Camaro, Trans AM and GTO is a MUSCLE car...not built to be particuarly great "track" cars unlike the Porche and BMW. Arguing about whose car brand is better is like arguing about whether Coke is Better than Pepsi, or Micky D's is better than Burger King. It is all a matter of PERSONAL opinion, lets not get all bend out of shape about it.

Believe me, I am no Corvette fan at all. BUT the new C6 is going to change some of this, specifically the handing issues. You should anticipate that the C6 is going to be in the same league as BMW and Porsche when it comes to handling. The days of calling a Corvette a straight line car are probably over, and that was my favorite phrase for them!

Of course, it's STILL a GM product, a company that has no idea where they are headed or how to build a corporate image.

im with ya on the personal preference thing. but still have to say the z06 is a better track car. ive spent some time on track and the z06 is faster than an m3 with equal driving talent. the c6 is even better.

again...i DONT like corvettes...but you gotta give em respect for what they are!

I'm not here to start a ruckus concerning sportscars...The fact is I'm a car guy and love all sportscars....period. I do think the Z06 is a better track car than the M3...How can it not be? It has two seats and 73 more hp and is lighter...But can a Z06 hold 4 people?..No it can't..and does it drive nearly as well as the M....absolutely not.....Different strokes for different folks. The bottom line is you have to ask yourself what's really important to YOU when buying a sportscar....

I think its o.k. to take any of em'

911, M3, C6 Vette Then there are appx a dozen more I like.

Agree with ya, there is a car for everyone !!

Personally I have always wanted an M3, but I would absolutely love having a C6 for a week-end, just to drive the H@ll out of it & give it back. For my home "I" would pick a Porsche, Audi or BMW, but that C6 has my attention & good for Chevy !! its moving forward.

i agree with you. in fact...when i bought my sportscar...i asked myself what was really important and decided on something other than a 911. and thats how this whole conversation started. im glad you agree with me then!

if money was no object, the only 911 i would even consider trading my car for is a gt3...and even that would be a tough decision.

It's been intersting reading the discussion in this thread over the last 4 months! Now, to brief you guys in on what happened with my '04 M3 and my bosses candy-ass Boxster S (just playin' with ya Boxster lovers [joke] ) (See the very first post.)Anyway, we lined them up one day after lunch, and with him getting the jump, I nailed the throttle (SMG was in automatic) and I simply started catching him and then ohhhhhhhh I started kicking his A$$ all over the place! Bye, bye baby (said like Burt Reynolds in Smokey and the Bandit [:D] ) was all that came to mind and then we we got back to work...not a word was spoken about it, until last week when he told me he is getting a 2003 Jaguar XJR w/ 400HP and he said NOW I will have a car that will beat you! I said bring IT! So, watcha guys think about this new race? I think I might be in trouble.

Excellent point. The Boxster IS one of the greatest handling cars on the road and has been for years....remember that the Boxster came out years before the Z4 and it STILL handles better than it. Granted the Boxster and Boxster S are far from the fastest cars out there for the $$, it is an extremely well-rounded performance machine.

shoot. i've smoked [boxface] numerous boxster s's with my GTI VR6 at autocross races and on the street. maybe a testament to Porsche owners being a bunch of gonad-less weinies, or just that the boxster is a sub-par car.

to me, the boxster is just a po-man's porsche for women, or guys who want the status of a porsche without doling out the cash for a real one.

You're still on top and he is going to be pissed. He will be carrying an additional 400 lbs. and his 400 hp is because the car is supercharged, therefore the Jag v8 develops less low RPM torque than you. You have .5 seconds on him in 0 - 60.
