Why di you buy an E30

I learned to drive in an '86 e30 and have loved the car ever since.

21 years later I bought an '87 325e that is mechanicly sound, but needs a little TLC in other places for $1000. Now I just need the time and money to make her shine again.

Like DickyT, I got a great deal on my E30. It's a 1989 325iC ragtop in pretty good shape, owned by a friend who's about to retire and needed it out of her garage to make room for a newer retirement/play car. I've always like BMWs and love convertibles, so it was a perfect combimation. Add the automatic transmission that my wife can drive, and it was a quick sale (even though I'd prefer the stick shift). Sure, it needs lots of TLC, including new shocks/struts, but I'm going to try and do most of the work myself, which should be fun. Plus, it keeps me from wasting gas and running up miles on my Suburban!

im surprised i didnt post my vote on this thread's first leg when i used to visit these forums...

i bought mine for a dollar from my grandfather to keep it in the family, and because its a great sporty and simple car, easy to work on yet has quality written all around it.
